Fly Fishing Yankee Jim

Lots of people raft down the Yellowstone River in Yankee Jim Canyon. Have you ever fly fished it, though?...Timing on this will be crucial. You'll definitely want to be here in early spring, well before the snow melt. Oh, and you'll want to be prepared for a hike down into the canyon, as well; and, it's steep. :)

Planning A Fly Fishing Trip Of A Lifetime

If you're like me, then each trip out on the river is special. It's even more special if you're traveling hundreds or thousands of miles to fly fish a river. Don't drop the ball on this one. Research when and where it's best to fish your favorite southwest Montana rivers. Perhaps you'll find yourself on the upper Madison during the first few weeks of August...nice choice! :)

Road Trip To Bannack

Sunny days are here again. The rivers are starting to get cloudy with snow melt, however; and, Hyalite Canyon road is still not open. You have to make this sunny weekend count; so, what do you do? Road Trip! Consider going to Bannack State Historic Park, an out of the way ghost town outside of Dillon, Montana. Take advantage of this sunny weather and May the fourth be with you. :)

Ousel Power

May is here and snow melt season has begun. Yes, it has been much cooler this spring than in any in recent memory. However, it's not too hard to predict that most of the rivers in southwest Montana will soon be running at a much higher energy level. That's ok, though, because you'll get the opportunity to see Ousel Falls at one of its most spectacular stages. You won't want to miss this event; and, it's an easy hike too. Map it today! :)
