Bozeman's Hyalite Reservoir
It goes without saying that you will want to maximize your summertime vacation in southwest Montana. So,when would be the best time to be in the area?
For the last 20 years, I have found that your safest bet would be to plan your outdoors activities no earlier than the third week of July. By this time, all of the rivers and creeks will be clear of snow melt; so, fly fishing will be very good. And, of course, you'll want to hike an area like Big Sky's Beehive Basin (shown here) that is flourishing with an abundance of wild flowers.
So, if hiking, camping, and fly fishing are all on your to do list. then late July to early August is your best bet for a southwest Montana summertime visit.
